All’interno di MIND – Milano Innovation District, il grande intervento di rigenerazione e rifunzionalizzazione che sta trasformando un milione di mq dell’area dell’Expo 2015 a cavallo tra il comune di Milano e quello di Rho, The Hive è lo spazio voluto da Lendlease per accogliere reception, hub e spazio co-working per aziende e startup.

Flessibili e dinamici, gli spazi e le funzioni si contaminano con l’ambiente esterno e tra loro, per rompere gli schemi tradizionali e per creare un luogo stimolante all’insegna della flessibilità e dell’innovazione.

The Hive è un complesso composto da più edifici che saranno pronti entro il 2023. Tra i tanti edifici e servizi che popolano e popoleranno l’area, The Hive eredita l’atteggiamento e gli spazi di Expo, attraverso il riutilizzo di padiglioni e strutture in legno esistenti per divenire un fulcro di connessioni, relazioni e scambio di idee.

Lombardini22, attraverso le sue business unit FUD, DDLab, BIMLand ha dato vita a uno spazio stimolante e a misura d’uomo, che rispecchia i valori di MIND.

Un luogo ibrido, smart, multifunzionale in cui sono palpabili le parole chiave che hanno informato il progetto: innovazione, sostenibilità, network, flessibilità, biofilia, futuro.

Il progetto trasforma un luogo di transito in destinazione aumentandone la riconoscibilità. È infatti la zona reception a dare il benvenuto ai visitatori coinvolgendoli in uno spazio polifunzionale, dove il soffitto è una installazione luminosa composta da una moltitudine di sfere luminose di diverse dimensioni che si illuminano di temperature di bianco diverse, per simulare la luce naturale nei vari momenti della giornata.

Altro spazio caratterizzante The Hive è l’auditorium, con il grande videowall circondato da una parete attrezzata con colorati pannelli acustici esagonali che richiamano le sedute dell’ingresso. Alcuni pannelli nascondono gli impianti audio/video, altri sono sedute estraibili in base alle necessità. A soffitto, cilindri in resina melamminica ricreano l’atmosfera di un cielo stellato notturno.

Disseminate nei diversi ambienti, tra spazi di co-working e meeting-room, vi sono alcune citazioni di scienziati e pensatori: testi tridimensionali a spessore variabile tono su tono e rivestiti con pellicole effetto specchio.

Gli spazi, modulari e flessibili, si adattano, non solo al susseguirsi delle start up e dei professionisti che animano e animeranno gli uffici, ma anche alle diverse modalità lavorative dello scenario contemporaneo.

The Hive is the space conceived by Lendlease to provide a reception area, hub and co-working spaces for companies and startups within MIND – Milano Innovation District, the vast regeneration and refunctionalisation project that is transforming one million square metres of the Expo 2015 site straddling the municipalities of Milan and Rho.

The spaces and functions are flexible and dynamic, interlinking between themselves and with the external environment in order to break away from traditional concepts and create a stimulating setting that is adaptable and innovative.

The Hive is a complex of buildings that will be completed within 2023. Of the numerous buildings and services that have been and will be developed in this area, The Hive has inherited the attitude and the spaces of Expo 2015 through the reutilisation of pavilions and existing wooden structures to become a focal point for connections, relations and the exchange of ideas.

Through its business units FUD, DDLab and BIMLand, Lombardini22 has created a stimulating and people-oriented environment that reflects the values of MIND.

A hybrid space that is smart and multifunctional, in which one can readily recognise the key words that have shaped the project: innovation, sustainability, networking, flexibility, biophilic design, future.

The project transforms a place of transit into a destination, enhancing its identity. In fact, it is the reception area that welcomes visitors, drawing them into a multifunctional space, where the ceiling features a light installation comprising a multitude of variable-sized illuminated spheres that light up in different temperatures of white to mimic natural light at various times throughout the day.

Another characteristic space within The Hive is the auditorium, with its large video wall and surrounding partition wall fitted with coloured hexagonal acoustic panels that recall the seats at the entrance. Some of the panels conceal the audio/video systems, while others serve as extractable chairs when needed. The ceiling’s cylinders in melamine resin recreate the atmosphere of a starry sky at night.

Quotes from scientists and great thinkers can be found in various locations around the co-working spaces and meeting rooms: tone-on-tone 3D text in different thicknesses covered in a mirror-effect film.

The spaces are modular and flexible and adaptive not only to the needs of all those startups and professionals that will and do occupy the offices but also to the diverse working styles of the modern workplace.
